“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”- Thomas MertonThis is a very famous saying and is amazingly affirmative words from a well-known personality. Art in itself takes a lot of courage and dedication when one needs to create intricate details and turn a piece of art into a masterpiece.Hello everyone! I am Jenny Bhat, a famous abstract artist who loves to create awesome art pieces using satirical humour to comment on social and cultural practices prevailing in the country. My work is based on my experiences gained through exploring places and creating memories, nostalgia, self-perception and self-analysis with self-deception.I was born and brought up in Mumbai, my city, my home. I’ve been drawing since my childhood and my fondest childhood memory is that of my grandmother buying me my first easel (which I have still kept). As with all artists, Art chose me, I had no option to choose it! I happened to be lucky in that I inherited creativity from both sides of my family. I’ve been an exhibiting artist since the mid-nineties. My work is evolving over time. My influences include Pop Art, eastern philosophy, spirituality and psychedelia. In the past, I have worked in multiple media companies with a focus on painting. Most recently, I have expanded my practice to comic narratives and design. I like my work that way. It evolves as I grow and change, as my influences and life experience changes. As I have mentioned earlier, I have worked with a couple of companies and gained experience of almost 4 years, but it never attracted me. Throughout this time I kept on exploring new things and always dreamt to expand my aura and create humorous and notice worthy art to create a dent in the fabric of the universe. Working as a Graphic Designer of course, never left me distracted! While at the agency, I used to spend my free time reading up on pop art and how it influenced contemporary design- in apparel, accessories, furniture and products. I came to experience humour and pop art as so much more accessible because they are about everyday things and universal experiences. Abstract art, on the other hand, is subtle, yet isolating in a way, as it is more conceptual. These things have helped me in carving my own road towards being a full-fledged artist and luckily the time spent earlier has actually proven to be fruitful today.I have faced many ups and downs in my life and that actually shaped me in a person who I am today. After quitting from my full-time work, I have spent my time working as a freelance back then. But no one ever imagined that an artist can reach such height with her creativity and sense of humour. Till now I have collected many achievements on my plate by contributing cartoons and caricatures to leading Indian publications including The Times of India group to designing and illustrating 9 children’s books and writing a book on humorous art. I have written a lot on art and spirituality and started a comic strip called ‘Inside Ouch’ which was published in a mind-body-spirit magazine and ran for 5 years. I have tried my hand on so many things and I am grateful to everyone who supported me in my life.HelpMeTry is a perfect platform for me where I can reach out to my supporters and create exclusive art pieces only for them. With your support I will be able to expand my horizon even more. Thank you guys for reaching here and I hope to make you even happier & delighted with my cartoons and humorous artwork. Love you all!
